Why is it that when your looking for just the right antique you can’t find it??  I swear I was searching for a cute little pine side table for months for this bedroom. That was the only thing I wasn’t finding. I already had a cabinet lined up for one long wall and my eye on a piece of super large art. But to balance that clean look I wanted something with age, and some detail.

Then one afternoon Jon and Harley joined me for some rambling through a bunch of shops in a massive mill building. I was getting a little desperate when I found at the very back of a space this little guy. He had other pieces on top of him and I thought he was sold. Turns out not!  The top had these beautiful little diamond details, the bottom stretcher a cute little scallop detail and the drawer actually just slid back  and forth. It was a really neat design. SOLD!  He was a little high for the bed height, I admit but at this point we were close enough and I decided to break a design rule of keeping the bedside tables within a couple inches of the mattress height. Can’t win them all!

It’s nice to have helpers ….

That other cabinet I was talking about? It’s on the other side of the room, I actually ganged 2 pieces together to get the length and storage needed. I was looking for that length as I fell in love with this modern painting. The juxtaposition of the modern art in this farmhouse was striking just the right balance for me.  Can we also appreciate the nice styling job? I loved these planters that I sourced locally, the worn black wood, terra-cotta and the succulents? Heck ya!

Since the Bedroom is so small here’s a little visual of an early quickie elevation study when I was figuring out if we could fit this piece of art in. I decided against the lamps since the first was was so close to when you walked in, it felt like it was blocking view. All in all I like how the clean cabinet balances the fun little antique find !
